BRECKENRIDGE K-9 BORDER COLLIE RESCUE

We rescue Border Collies and help find forever homes.

About Us

Breckenridge K-9 Border Collie Rescue was created to help border collies, in need, find loving, safe forever homes. We are a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization solely based on donations, fundraising and volunteers. Consider adopting a Border Collie or Border Collie mix, today.

Why Border Collies?

I have always loved animals, but one breed of dog has stolen my heart which is the Border Collie with its unique intelligence and quirky behaviors. It is a breed that is truly misunderstood, by most, but attracts so many with its beauty and athleticism. It is this attraction that leaves so many Border Collies in the hands of the wrong owners and lands them in shelters or looking for new homes.

I feel we have reached a crisis in this country with so many animals being abandoned. I have chosen to act by supporting the breed that often takes much longer to rehabilitate and re-home due to their unique behavior. Our approach to our rescue will be to rehabilitate and train homeless Border Collies with the goal of rehoming them to understanding, forever homes. This approach does not allow us to run through a large quantity of rescue dogs, but it does give those we choose a better chance at finding a forever, loving home.

Our rescue is also striving to help our community with an overwhelming need for spay/neuter resources. Our long-term goals will include helping to fundraise to meet this need.

Thank you for all your support from Breckenridge K-9 Border Collie Rescue.

Sincerely,
Lisa Bell, Founder/ CEO

Charlie, an 8-month-old Pyrenees, wanted to be indoors, was a wanderer and needed training. He needed constant attention that I was not able to give him. Lisa took him in, trained him and found an absolute perfect forever home. He is loved so much that he now sleeps with his owner in the same bed. He gets walked every day and is a great watch dog for his new owner. I am so glad I found Lisa when I did and could give Charlie the best opportunity to become the most loved dog by his owner. The adoption saved me from giving Charlie to a shelter where he might have never found his forever home. I visited Charlie one day and cried because I was so happy for him and could see in his eyes that he was in fact so happy and loved. Thanks Lisa, keep up the great work you do and the love you have for animals!
As long, as I’ve known Lisa, she has always dedicated her time to helping animals find forever homes. I’ve helped her with multiple rescues, in our area for lost or abandoned dogs. It is not unusual to find Lisa and I in the dark or freezing cold rain trying to save a dog that has been abandoned. I recently had Lisa helping me pull apart kennels in the scorching heat to save Sammy, the husky, from going to the shelter after killing his owner’s cat. Sammy now resides with me and my pack of black German Shepherds. I’m so glad Lisa has started a local rescue for the breed she loves.
